Last week it was all about salads. This week it’s been all about smoothies! I digress below on how this one came about but for now just let me tell you how good this healthy strawberries and cream smoothie really is.

Simple ingredients,  fresh Scottish locally grown strawberries (we do export these so you might be able to get them from where you are reading this, but if not, don’t despair just use the best you can purchase!), fat free strawberry yogurt, fat free Greek yogurt and a little honey. That’s it. That combination is enough using just a few cream associated dairy products, but no actual cream, to make this smooth and naturally sweet healthy strawberries and cream smoothie!

So let me talk a bit about the inspiration for this recipe (it’s pretty apt that today is linking up with spoons day) it was Ms Spoons recipe, this Peaches and Cream Protein Smoothie which I tried last year, love, and have loved many times since! (I’m comment no.13 in case you need me to prove it!).

So being inspired by that recipe, I thought, what else could you make as a smoothie that is delicious and creamy, uses some cream based products, but doesn’t actually contain the full fat product itself, and I wrote notes, back then, to put together a healthy strawberries and cream smoothie, one that obviously didn’t plagiarise Ms Spoons recipe, but one that still was deliciously creamy tasting, like hers, et voila!

Thank you for the inspiration and as always a great blog Amanda! 😀

Ok, so I’ve missed Wimbledon by a couple of weeks, when this smoothie probably would have been more apt. I can imagine it would have been perfect for me to watch Andy Murray being beaten in the semi finals again (oh so close AGAIN Andy!). Sigh. Still there’s always next year. 😮

If you’re craving even more fresh summer berry smoothies, like this one, then check out my raspberry and pear smoothie. I also seriously recommend my grapefruit oatie smoothie, for hangovers. Not that I’ve ever experienced any. 😉

So we did salads last week, smoothies this week, I wonder what it’ll be next week? Hope you’ll check back on Tuesday for my next new recipe. Until then, enjoy a smoothie and have a great weekend. And with any luck it’ll dry up here so I can get the grass cut. Yet another mention of the Scottish weather there Neil. Still it’s been good for the berries, if not for my sun tan!

  1. I was literally just thinking WHERE WAS THIS DURING WIMBLEDON.
I guess I’ll need a glass of Champagne to get myself over the injustice.

Just a glass of champagne? Surely The Suz MUST BE SEEN to be drinking the very finest and only the best Dom Perignon? 😉

  2. Thanks Neil, this smoothie recipe will have talked me out of buying a strawberries and cream Cadbury puddles bar. Right past the sweets I will walk! I may bitch and moan profusely about Scottish weather, but you’re right, there’s some fantastic berry action here!

Well if I haven’t managed to cheer you up about our classic Scottish weather Erin, at least I’ve hopefully given you an idea on how to satisfy your strawberries and cream cravings the healthy way! 🙂

I see the sun tried to come out eventually today eh 😉

  3. Yum! This looks like a much healthier version of a strawberry milkshake.. one of my favs 🙂

    • says:

Do you know that is a fantastic thought Liz, thank you!

I’m thinking that you could quite possibly just substitute the yogurt with skimmed milk and blitz that and voila, strawberry milkshake?

      Must try that! 😀

Hi Mary, thanks so much for taking the time to comment on my blog. 🙂

I love the smooth creaminess of this recipe, the bonus being it’s got not cream in it so it doesn’t give you those extra unnecessary calories. Bonus.

Definitely agree with you that it’s an ideal pre or post workout drink. We’ll be having it again on Saturday after the gym. We’re lucky there’s still plenty of local strawberries in the shops here! 🙂

  5. I simply love snacking on a bowl of strawberries and cream – am betting I could slurp this smoothie down in record time! And it’s so super easy to make!

Super easy and super healthy too Shashi!

Mind you, sometimes you can’t beat that REAL bowl of strawberries and cream. 😉

  6. If I could eat these ingredients – this is SURELY something I would make almost on the daily!!!

    • says:

Aw, thanks GiGi, sorry to can’t have this. I’ll need to think up some kind of substitute ingredients for you!
