Happy Sunday Folks, I hope your weekend is going well! 😀
Welcome to my 2nd “What’s NOT Cooking” in which I cheerfully deal with life’s challenges.
Keeping it Real
My recap on a week fighting against the weather, handing out cash and searching for a tin……
It was howling a gale on Sunday night and I knew that I would be seeing the contents of my neighbours refuse bins (those who somehow decided it was a good idea to put their refuse bins out for Monday collection) strewn across the street in the morning.
Indeed in my usual righteous way, I was correct, next morning there were spilled over bin contents everyone. Except for ours, as I had proudly proclaimed to Lynne, Sunday evening, that I was too wise to put ours out for collection.
I was soon to be struck down for my smugness when, on seeing a gap in the clouds from the ongoing blizzard, I decided to venture out and walk to my signing on session in the local job centre (an hours walk away) only for the heavens to unleash a ferocious storm over my head halfway there.
On entering the job centre I looked like someone who had just got out of a swimming pool with all their clothes still on. No one will have been able to sit in the seat I sat in, for at least a week, unless they wanted a nasty wet shock. There I sat wringing out my woolly hat looking like a character out of Oliver Twist and feeling rather small at that point.
However, good news was on the horizon, for on reaching home, getting dried off and downloading my emails I was delighted, and somewhat relieved to learn that I had passed my Prince2 Project Management exams which I’d sat in December. Yippee!! So I’m now all Koalafied!
Feeling rather good about myself, I was able to put in a pretty good Monday Gym session that evening when Lynne and I went there that evening.
Tuesday I finished at home gym routine in time to get Lynne to the station for just after 8am and for me to then proceed to drop the car off for its yearly MOT. I was hoping very much that the money I had spent on new brake parts and essential repairs last year, whilst in work, would see me good to getting the car to pass the MOT within budget. WRONG. £800 of repairs and further essential maintenance required to get the next years roadworthiness legally approved. FFFFFFKKKK!
Oh well, nothing to do but to just get on with things. I consoled myself with a bowl of a new curry recipe I’m currently developing, a read from my “Happy” book and a slice of the cake I’d a baked that morning too. Both recipes coming soon!

Wednesday wasn’t going to hinder any plans of mine even though Scotland was still being battered by gale force winds and a heavy snow shower slowed my drive to the gym! But didn’t quite stop me like it stopped this:-
Still, on leaving the gym it had all but melted, and the sky was showing a little blue (for a change) allowing me to go home and re-create all the recipe photographs (yesterday’s cake) that I wasn’t happy with. And to eat more of its deliciousness.
Thursday, my tenants alerted me the washer dryer was broken. More money. Sigh! The again worsening weather meant cancelling plans to meet my hillwalking buddy in Stirling for a glass of wine that evening. Guys, doesn’t it always just seem everything clobbers you all at once? Still, one must keep positive eh? 😕
So, with my plans thwarted for Thursday night I began a long overdue project of scanning over 6000 paper photographs to disk just so we can use the box the photo albums currently sit in. My scanner stopped working after 5 photographs. 🙁
However I did manage to get this one (proving that I have always been an active person and I used to have hair) from some 20 years ago when we had had several beers and decided to play football in a field in the middle of nowhere at 3am.
Friday, I began my search for Libby’s canned pumpkin (which had been extremely difficult to track down) only to have to resort to emailing Tesco’s customer service department to find out where I could get it in Glasgow!
We finally managed to track it down on Saturday…..
In my head
Well, I might have been interested in going to see Morrissey in Glasgow in March, but seeing as the tickets start at £72 each. Seriously? I was a huge fan of The Smiths and Morrissey solo years ago, but I’ve bankrolled his lifestyle enough with purchases of his material, so for now I’ll just remember the good old days by re-watching clips like this on YouTube.
Lightroom has arrived for Android phones. Happy Days. Might actually be able to edit some decent images taken with my Samsung phone camera now. It may just seem like a small thing, but this actually has made my Sunday! I’m off out now to try it out.
How has your week been?

See you for Tuesday’s recipe.
