Ingredients

  • 4 granny smith apples
  • 1 x 320g light puff pastry sheet
  • Juice of one fresh lemon
  • 2 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • Pinch cinnamon

Instructions

  • Pre-heat oven to 200C Fan
  • Spiralize the apples, pour the lemon juice into a large bowl and combine the apples and lemon juice together.
  • Roll out the puff pastry sheet and place on a greased baking tray.
  • Sprinkle 1 tbsp. of the brown sugar evenly over the pastry sheet.
  • Spread the spiralized apples evenly over the puff pastry sheet making sure that any excess drops of lemon juice as shaken off the apples first.
  • Gently heat the butter in a small saucepan. Add the remaining tbsp. brown sugar and simmer gently to create a caramel coloured syrup.
  • Drizzle the syrup over the spiralized apples and then place the tray in the oven.
  • Bake for 10 to 12 minutes until the apples are coloured but not burnt and the pastry has risen and is a light golden brown.
  • Remove from over, place onto a wooden board, cut into squares or slices and serve with plain vanilla ice cream or creme fraiche.

Notes

The cooked slices can also be served cold, they’re kind of like a Danish pastry!
