    This savoury pancakes with garlic mushrooms is a delicious mushroom pancakes recipe for two which can be served in only 15 minutes!

    This is a super easy savoury pancakes with garlic mushrooms recipe. One that I know you're just going to love!

    Pancakes are a favourite in our household. We love both sweet and savoury pancakes. They're quick to make and really versatile too.

    This recipe is a savoury pancakes recipe. If you're looking for more of a sweet pancake then do check out my list of other pancake recipes below.

    I've made this mushroom pancakes recipe suitable for vegetarians too.

    It's a perfect meal for two. You could make these on Valentine's day, on Pancake day (Shrove Tuesday), or at any time of year. There is no set rule!

    Savoury pancakes are great for brunch or dinner.

    You could also have them for breakfast or you might want to check out my easy banana oat pancakes recipe. Specifically designed to get your day off to a great start!

    Savoury pancakes are a delicious twist on the traditional sweet pancake.

    They can be filled with all kinds of savoury ingredients, such as meats, veggies and cheeses.

    Or you can customise your own filling depending on what you have to hand.

    One of the most popular toppings for savoury pancakes (and my favourite!) is garlic mushrooms. Hence this mushroom pancakes recipe!

    Also it's perfectly possible to make more than two savoury mushroom pancakes.

    Ingredients

    Savoury mushroom pancakes recipe ingredients.
    • Plain Flour / (All purpose flour U.S)
    • Egg
    • Skimmed Milk
    • Vegetable Oil
    • Button Mushrooms
    • Cloves Garlic
    • Freshly Chopped Parsley
    • Freshly Ground Salt And Black Pepper.

    Step By Step Instructions

    Detailed instructions are in the recipe card below. But here is a quick step by step guide of how to make this savoury mushroom pancakes recipe:

    Steps 1 & 2

    • Sift flour into a small Pyrex mixing bowl.
    • Make a well in the centre of the flour and add the egg.

    Step 3

    • Whisk the flour and egg together using a fork.

    Step 4

    • Add the milk and whisk until you have a batter. One that is thick enough to pour but not too runny. Add more flour if it is too runny.

    Step 5

    • Gently heat oil in a non-stick frying pan over a medium heat. Use ½ of the batter for each pancake. Cook on one side until bubbles form on the surface. Then flip the pancake and cook on the other side for 1-2 minutes.

    Step 6

    • Remove the cooked pancake from the pan. Place on a plate and keep in a warm oven. Repeat process and cook the other pancake. Lay it on top of the first pancake. Wipe frying pan with a paper towel.

    • Heat the remaining oil. Sauté mushrooms and garlic over a medium heat.

    Step 8

    • Stir in the chopped parsley. Season to taste.

    Step 9

    • Assemble the pancakes. Place half of the garlic mushrooms on each. Fold each pancake over. Serve while hot.

    Substitutions

    • Plain Flour / (All purpose flour U.S) - you can use coconut flour, almond flour or buckwheat flour to make gluten-free pancakes but you may have to alter the quantity and add more eggs.
    • Egg - I use 1 large egg
    • Skimmed Milk - you can also use plant based milk or whole milk.
    • Vegetable Oil - you can also use spray oil brushed over the pan before it's heated or a little butter.
    • Button Mushrooms - you can also used chopped white mushrooms or try different flavours by using chestnut or shiitake mushrooms instead.
    • Cloves Garlic
    • Freshly Chopped Parsley - you could also use different herbs like thyme.
    • Freshly Ground Salt And Black Pepper.

    What To Serve With Savoury Pancakes?

    These savoury garlic mushroom pancakes are great on their own. You could also serve with a green side salad or some vegetables like peas.

    How Many Calories Are In Savoury Pancakes?

    These savoury pancakes are 207 calories each.

    When Should I Eat Pancakes?

    Pancakes are normally associated with Shrove Tuesday or Pancake day, the day before Lent, because they are a way to use up foods like as eggs, milk, and flour. They are also eaten on Valentines day. But really you can eat them at any time of the year!

    Can You Freeze Savoury Pancakes?

    You can freeze the pancakes by placing a sheet of greaseproof baking paper between each pancake then wrapping them in cling film. I do not recommend freezing the garlic mushroom filling though.

    How To Reheat Savoury Pancakes?

    Make sure your pancakes are completely defrosted first. Reheat on a baking tray in the oven at about 160C Fan for just a few minutes.

    • Non stick frying pan
    • Pyrex mixing glass bowl
    • Kitchen scale
    • Measuring jug
    • Measuring spoons
    • Chopping board
    • Kitchen knives

    Ingredients

    For The Pancakes: -

    • 60 g Plain Flour
    • 1 Egg
    • 150 ml Skimmed Milk
    • 2 tablespoon Vegetable Oil

    For The Garlic Mushrooms: -

    • 1 tablespoon Vegetable Oil
    • 200 g Button Mushrooms thinly sliced.
    • 3 cloves garlic finely chopped.
    • 1 tablespoon Freshly Chopped Parsley
    • Freshly Ground Salt And Black Pepper.

    Instructions

    For The Pancakes: -

    • Sift flour into a small Pyrex mixing bowl.
    • Make a well in the centre of the flour and add the egg.
    • Using a fork, whisk the flour and egg together.
    • Gradually whisk in the milk until you have a batter. The batter should be thick enough to pour but not too runny.*
    • Gently heat 1 tablespoon of the oil in a non-stick frying pan over a medium heat. Pour ½ of the batter for each pancake. Cook on one side until bubbles form on the surface, about 2 minutes. Then flip the pancake and cook on the other side for 1-2 minutes.
    • Remove the pancake from the frying pan and place on a plate. Place in a warm oven and repeat process and cook the other pancake, then lay it on top of the first pancake. Wipe frying pan with a paper towel.

    For The Garlic Mushrooms: -

    • Heat the remaining oil in the frying pan over a medium heat then add mushrooms and garlic. Sauté, stirring for about 5 minutes until cooked.
    • Stir in the chopped parsley and season to taste.
    • Assemble the pancakes by placing on warm plates with half of the garlic mushrooms on each. Fold each pancake over. Serve while hot.
