Tropical pineapple smoothie. This easy to make healthy smoothie is not only refreshing and thirst quenching but it's bursting with flavour too!
Well folks we've been having some pretty amazing warm and dry weather here in Glasgow lately.
That's meant we've finally been able to sit outside in our garden and relax.
It's been nice to sit in the garden as opposed to sitting in the house, what with the nine months of lockdown we've had to endure!
Sitting in the garden always makes me think we need a nice refreshing drink and that's where this tropical pineapple smoothie was conjured from!
This tropical pineapple smoothie is so easy to make and it's made from just 5 ingredients.
It's a great tasting healthy smoothy. Perfect for enjoying in the sun and a great way to contribute towards your 5 a day!
I've made this tropical smoothie with banana, pineapple fingers, a peach, a little dry ginger powder and water.
I decided to use water here instead of fruit juice.
Fruit juice sometimes contains added sugar and other addatives. Of course you could use that instead if you want to.
Just bear in mind the calorie count would differ from that printed below.
If you have any leftover bananas that are needing used up then this tropical pineapple smoothie is a great way to make sure they're not wasted.
Using pineapple fingers here too, rather than those from a tin means they're fresh and not covered in added fruit juice.
Like bananas, pineapple is also full of vitamin C and the peach too is rich in many vitamins and minerals.
I love using ginger in this smoothie recipe too. Not only for the delicious taste it gives but for also for its added health benefits.
Ginger has been used throughout history in alternative medicine.
It’s been said to aid digestion and help fight against the flu and the common cold.
Both of which I don't want to get when I'm finally trying to enjoy some sunshine outdoors!

That's a beautiful summer flavour combination, so refreshing and luscious! I've recently enjoyed a similar smoothie with mangoes, and I'll need to try it with succulent peaches now. Now, I'm thinking I should transform this idea into some kind of tropical smoothie sorbet / ice cream ๐
Neil
Glad you like it Ben, thanks! Looking forward to seeing your tropical smoothie sorbet. That sounds like a great idea. Send it over!

I totally agree that a good pineapple smoothie is the way to celebrate the return of warmer days - and the return of being able to go out in public again! We love smoothie days during the summer here, and we haven't done one yet this year - I always include bananas in my versions, but I'm intrigued by the addition of ginger powder here. That sounds delicious, Neil! I hope you guys are well over there!
Neil
Thanks David. I just found that the ginger powder added a really nice "tanginess" and was easier than having to deal with grating some actual ginger. I think most people have ginger powder in their cupboards so it was easier that way too.
sherry
that sounds great - well except for the banana but i can always leave that out ๐
Neil
Thanks Sherry. Yes you could just add more pineapple instead.

Oooh, I just love the tropical vibe of this luscious drink, Neil! For me at least, whenever i make something in a blender it just seems better - tastes better, looks better, magical! Love this !
Neil
I agree with you Laura. Something whipped up nice and fresh always tastes better doesn't it?
