Curly kale crisps make an ideal quick healthy snack recipe. Here I show you how to make curly kale crisps in just 15 minutes. You'll love this easy light and crispy savoury delight!
Here's a delicious and simple recipe for how to make your own homemade kale crisps.
It all started because I wanted something healthy to snack on yesterday whilst watching a rugby match on the TV.
The team I was supporting didn't win, unfortunately. In fact they lost. Badly!
However, what did come out of that debacle was this curly kale crisps recipe.
And this was a great way to use up a bag of kale leftover in the fridge that I'd used in my soup recipes!
I'd read about this "interesting" snack called kale crisps or kale chips as they are known in the U.S. on other people's food blogs.
And therefore I decided to give it a try.
My quick healthy version turned out perfectly. They're delicious and have a lovely healthy crunch.
Plus this healthy snack doesn't have any artificial colours, flavours or additives in it! So they make a great alternative to potato crisps.
Even if you don't like Kale, you really should give these kale crisps a try.
The recipe below works with any type of normal green kale you can buy in bags from your supermarket. Purple kale is fine too!

How Do You Make Curly Kale Crisps?
Detailed instructions are in the recipe card below. But here is a quick step by step guide of how to make kale crisps:
- Pre-heat oven to 180C Fan.
- Rinse kale under running water and pat it dry with some kitchen towel.
- Place the kale in a large bowl and massage in the olive oil and salt for about one minute.
- Spread the kale out in a single layer on a grease proof baking sheet/tray.
- Roast in the centre of oven for 10 – 15 minutes until lightly browned and crispy.
- Serve baked kale chips in bowls. Sprinkle over a little more salt if required and enjoy!
Tips For Making Kale Crisps
- Make sure your kale is dry before you massage in the olive oil. Step 3 (above).
- Don't use any stems. You only want to use the leaf part of the kale. The stems can be used to make stock with.
- Don't cut up any large leaves. They will soon shrink whilst roasting.
- Make sure you give the leaves enough space on the baking tray to crisp. Step 4 (above).
- Keep an eye on your kale whilst it's roasting. Its easy to burn it. Which you do not want to do!

No. Unfortunately if you freeze and then defrost your kale crisps they will be soggy.
Can I Reheat Kale Crisps?
Yes. They can be reheated in your oven. But will not be as good as if though they were served fresh.

Why not try making other flavours of kale crisps?
You could add a dash of other spices to your curly kale crisps to change the flavour, like paprika. Just add a little in when you are massaging the oil in.
Cajun or fajita seasoning also goes well. We also have a Chipotle Chilli Grinder that's great to use too!

Thanks Paul! So glad you liked these. How about adding in a little vinegar in with the oil before you massage in the oil? You only need a very small amount like 1 teaspoon worth? Thanks again for taking the time to rate and comment on my recipe!
