Healthy slow cooker turkey chilli is a delicious lightly spiced and easy version of the Mexican classic recipe. This tasty dish is one all the family will love!
Folks this healthy slow cooker turkey chilli is one of the best meals for cold weather.
It's also perfect when you're busy and have got better things to do than spend time in the kitchen all day!
You just need 10 minutes to prepare the turkey mince then set your cooker on low and you're good to go.
Cook the chilli for 6 to 8 hours. Stir it occasionally and enjoy the delicious aroma that fills your whole house and makes you feel incredibly hungry!
You can serve this turkey chilli in so many different ways. How might you serve yours?
Choose to keep it nice and simple by serving it on a bed of rice, like in this recipe?
Top it with a little sour cream and cheese?
The favourite way of my other half and myself? Take it to the next stage by filling tortillas with the cooked chilli.
Place those filled tortillas in a baking dish, cover with cheese and bake them in the oven. Delicious!!
This tasty, fresh and healthy chilli is only 168 calories per portion (excluding rice) and serves 6 people in total.
Any leftover portions are freezable. Perfect for those nights where you can't be bothered cooking.
Using lean turkey mince keeps the fat content as low as possible.
The recipe uses red kidney beans and black beans, both of which are a great source of protein.
Using canned beans is cheaper and quicker than dried beans.
Vary the beans if you want to change the recipe up a bit, you've got beans leftover to use or if you can't get the ones I've used!

I am all about the slow cooker meals at this time of the year! There's just something magical about the thought of dinner cooking away on the counter while you run around and get stuff down for the holidays. This chili sounds delicious, Neil! And I love the idea of serving it enchilada-style with tortillas. Comfort food central right there! ๐
Neil
Thanks David. Yep, it's perfect for allowing you to get on with other stuff. It's also great becuase it means the cooker is freed up for experimenting with other recipes at the same time too! ๐

Thank you for this recipe. I really need to get out my slow cooker more often. I've already decided I need to buy ground meat and sausage more often as well. They lend themselves to different kinds of recipes that my husband really loves, but that I don't tend to think about.
Neil
A slow cooker is a great thing to have isn't it! A convenient time saving piece of equipment that I think every kitchen should have. Your husband is lucky to have you to cook all those different kinds of recipes he loves! ๐
Ron
Neil, I think I'll be having as a burrito with a warm avocado cream sauce over it. But, bake tacos sounds mighty appealing as well. I really like the addition of the fresh coriander chopped. We'll be giving this a try.
Neil
Those baked tacos are delicious Ron. Hope you enjoy them! ๐
Shashi at Savory Spin
Neil, I can imagine just how good this smells - what a delicious aroma to come home to! And I gotta say, I am drooling over the idea of eating these in baked, cheese-covered tortillas! Such a hearty meal - perfect for the uncharacteristically cold weather we have been hit with.
Neil
We've still got a batch of this in our freezer Shashi so we can't wait until next time we have those baked cheese covered tortillas. They truely were a revelation! ๐
Jeff the Chef
That's got a lot of great-looking stuff in it!
Neil
Thanks Jeff. It's great tasting too! ๐
Mary Perkins
Turkey Chili, delicious and looking forward to having the left overs enchilada style, saving that for another day. Would not be without my Slow Cooker and will be using it a lot more often now that we are going into Winter, not to mention another Lockdown, here in Ireland. Thanks Neil and I love your Sweetcorn Soup..
Neil
Thanks for making and rating my recipe Mary. Glad you like it! Yes my slow cooker has seen a lot more use in these last few months too. I'll be making another batch of my sweetcorn soup soon for winter too. Take care and stay safe! ๐
