A pan of cooked healthy creamy prawn pasta. Pin title text overlay at top.

This delicious healthy creamy prawn pasta recipe is an easy low-calorie version of the classic prawn linguine recipe. Made without any cream.

A pan of healthy creamy prawn pasta with a bowl of sliced garlic bread above.

Not only does this healthy creamy prawn pasta taste absolutely amazing but it takes hardly any effort to make either!

You can easiy whip up this dish and serve it to a family of four in less than half an hour. Making it an excellent dish for busy weeknights.

I love making lighter versions of classic dishes.

Just like my low fat garlic mushroom pasta, this creamy prawn linguine recipe is also a healthier version of a classic!

I mean what's not to love about prawns in a tangy creamy garlic sauce?

And your waistline will thank you even more that this is a creamy prawn pasta without cream!

Creamy prawn pasta served on a plate garnished with chopped parsley. Fork to the side. Rest of dish in a pan and a bowl of sliced garlic bread at the top.

Instead of using cream, my healthy creamy prawn pasta uses low fat crème fraiche and a little grated parmesan.

This makes a healthier but still creamy garlic tasting sauce.

Why not serve this healthier version to your dinner guests? It's an excellent dish for entertaining.

Who wants to spend all night in the kitchen at a dinner party when you can easily impress your guests with this delicious prawn pasta?

However you choose to have this meal, I hope you enjoy it as much as we do!

    Substitutions

    • Dried Linguine Pasta - see FAQ's below for other suggested pasta options.
    • Low Fat Crème Fraiche - you can use full fat but that will alter the nutritional label.
    • Lemon Juice - freshly squeezed is best but you can use from a bottle too.
    • King Prawns - I use fresh raw king prawns. Ones that are already peeled and de-veined. U.S. readers use Shrimp. See FAQ's for other notes about what prawns to use.
    • Parmesan Cheese - use freshly grated.

    FAQ's

    Is Creamy Prawn Pasta Healthy?

Compared to other prawn pasta recipes which use double cream (heavy cream) and butter for the sauce, yes this is a healthy creamy prawn pasta.

How Many Calories Are In This Prawn Linguine?

This creamy prawn pasta without cream is low in calories at just 515 calories per serving.

What Kind Of Pasta Should I Use?

Although you should use linguine, any long type pasta such as spaghetti or fettuccine will do. You could also use tagliatelle. To make your own see my tagliatelle with home made pesto recipe.

    Can I Use Cooked Prawns?

Raw prawns (also known as green prawns) are the best. They add more flavour to the recipe. You can use cooked prawns though. If frozen, make sure they are thoroughly defrosted first as you only need to add them to the sauce to warm them through. Do this at Step 5.

What To Serve With Creamy Prawn Linguine?

It's quite filling so I just serve it with a couple of slices of garlic bread. You can use this to make sure all the sauce is mopped up. You could also serve it with a fresh green salad.

    Storage And Freezing?

I do not recommend storing or freezing this recipe. This recipe needs to be cooked and served fresh.

Nice! I actually rarely use cream to make a pasta sauce, and I go with some cream cheese; it thickens and makes it rich without making overly heavy. I love the idea to use crème fraiche, it sounds good! The pasta itself looks also light but perfectly hearty.

Yeah I use cream cheese (low fat soft cheese here) to make my pasta sauces as well Ben. It's also suitable to use. I find crème fraiche gives the sauce a lighter not overly cheesy flavour to the sauce. But both are good!

It was okay but the sauce went curdled and was quite runny, maybe I out too much creme fraiche in.
I would try it again though. Filled a hole....

Oh dear. Sounds like you had your pan too hot and maybe you didn't simmer and stir the sauce to reduce it which would have thickened it?

Creamy pasta is perhaps my all-time guilty pleasure! I do try to avoid it (mostly) for the sake of my waistline, so I'm really intrigued by this version with crème fraiche. Excellent recipe, my friend - definitely going on the list of things to make here!
