These quick and easy black bean burgers are just that. They are quick and easy to make, without any fuss. You won’t need to spend hours in the kitchen.
I made them that way because I love burgers as much as the next person, but I don't have hours of time to spend on a complicated recipe.
Putting together black bean burgers with pages of ingredients involved just isn't my style.
I'm thinking you're nodding your head too at this point aren't you, folks?
Well read on as I think that you're just going to love these quick and healthy burgers!
What you've got here is an amazingly easy tasty black bean burgers recipe.
This recipe makes 4 delicious burgers with the very minimum of effort.
It’s perfect for feeding a family of four.
You only need basic store cupboard ingredients, so no special shopping trips are required.
Plus, these burgers are made in just over half an hour.
That's it.
Simple, quick, and delicious!
So where did the inspiration for this recipe come from?
Well it was on our recent trip to Hawaii and San Francisco.
So I thought I'd start re-creating some of our favourite holiday eats to share with you folks.
My other half had black bean burgers for dinner one night whilst we were staying at the Travaasa Hana, in their Ranch Restaurant.
I had a pulled pork sandwich, something I rarely have at home as she doesn't eat pork, it was delicious.
However, when I had a taste of that black bean burger I knew I had to try and recreate it so it could be something we could all enjoy!
Being honest folks I've had quite a few attempts over the last few weeks to get this recipe right.
Initially I made them too complex, then I made them too soggy, then I made them too spicy. You get the issues I was having? 😆
Finally I reminded myself, "less is more". So I stripped the ingredients right back to the bare minimum and these quick and easy black bean burgers were born.
They taste exactly like those bean burgers had at the Travaasa Hana with no sacrifice on flavour!
Not only that, they are much more healthy.
When I told a work colleague I was making these, she asked, "are black bean burgers good for you". So I'm going to answer that question right here.

Haha! I totally understand the whole 'uh oh, it's raining but I need to make a grilled recipe' problem. ๐ While I love (like love!) a good beef burger, I can definitely appreciate a good black bean burger, too. The problem (as you noted) is that the ingredient list is often way too long. I mean that's fine if it's the weekend and you're just enjoying spending time in the kitchen, but that doesn't work on a weeknight. These sound amazing, and kudos to you for figuring out the recipe! And kudos to Lynne, too, as I bet she was your taste tester for each round! I hope you guys have a wonderful (and dry) weekend!

These black bean burgers were like an obsession David!
I spent ages trying to get them to be, and to taste exactly like those that we enjoyed on holiday in Hawaii.
If I'd just kept it simple at the start, then I wouldn't have got myself into such a stressed mess, lol!
Thanks as always for your comment David. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with recipe wise next week! ๐

WOW these look delicious Neil, I am always looking for a good meat alternative burger. This looks so simple and easy to prepare and best of all I have all the ingredients in my kitchen cupboard. I absolutely love it!!! Looking forward to making these soon, so definitely pinning and saving.

Thanks Ashika. ๐
These have become one of our favourite meat burger alternatives now and I hope you like them as much as we do!

Neil, such fantastic black bean burgers! My daughter and I love black bean burgers - I don't add breadcrumbs in mine usually - but will try this next time. Delicious! Am so enjoying all these foods inspired by your travels!
neil@neilshealthymeals.com
I'm so glad you like these Shashi. I needed to put some breadcrumbs in, in order to give them a bit more "solidity" otherwise I found they were a bit "crumbly". But I suppose you could quite easily add more beans or a little coconut flour or something like that so as to make them gluten free for yourselves? ๐
Jeff
This black bean burger sounds do good! A beef burger that size would be such a brick in my stomach, but I bet a bean burger would leave me feeling full without feeling like I needed a nap.
neil@neilshealthymeals.com
I totally feel the same Jeff after a beef burger, especially one that size, in needing a nap.
Even more so if that beef burger is washed down with a few beers too. ๐
