Slow cooker lamb curry. Beautiful tender chunks of lamb in a rich sauce of tomatoes, garlic, onions and spices. Need I say more?

This one is really special though. It's just a beautiful Indian lamb curry recipe.
Maybe it's just because lamb is my favourite meat or perhaps it's just the perfect winter curry?
Either way I know you won't be disappointed.
It's not too difficult to make and whilst bubbling away in your slow cooker it will make your whole house smell AMAZING!
If you love Indian food. You will love this perfect recipe.
I've used diced lamb to make this curry.
That keeps it easy and so that it's ready to serve immediately after the cooking time.
You could plonk in a leg of lamb or a shoulder of lamb, if you can get that into your slow cooker. (Mine isn't big enough).
It should cook in roughly the same amount of time as diced lamb.
At the end of the cooking time you would need to then pull the meat off the bone before serving.

Hints and Tips For How To Make This Slow Cooker Lamb Curry
- To save time just buy already diced lamb from your supermarket but trim any excess fat off. A small amount of fat is fine as it will melt into the sauce and add some extra flavour!
- For even more flavour make this lamb curry the day before then allow it to cool and pop it covered into your fridge to marinate. Reheat it in a microwave or on the stove in a saucepan until thoroughly hot.
- Store this curry for a maximum of 2 days covered in your fridge.
- You can freeze this lamb curry. It's best portioned into individual containers then frozen. Defrost it thoroughtly. Reheat it in a microwave or on the stove in a saucepan until thoroughly hot.

So lamb has never been a mainstream meat option here in the States...well, at least not in the places I've lived. However, with that said, we do see lamb a decent amount right around Easter. That's perfect timing for this curry! I'm all about the slow cooker dinners these days. This looks delicious, and I can tell it's packed with flavor...just how I like it! Hope you and Lynne are having a great week, Neil!
Neil
Thanks David. That's interesting that lamb isn't a mainstream meat option there in the States. But I suppose its understandable as I guess the terrain isn't quite like Scottish terrain with all our mountains and hills where the only creatures that are hardy enough to be reared there are sheep! Hope you get a chance to give this a go sometime. You would love it!
Mimi
Lamb curry is my favorite. More than any other kind of protein. Thereโs just something magical about all of those flavors. This one looks fabulous. Iโll have to find those pastes.
Neil
Lamb curry is my favourite too Mimi. The flavours are quite special aren't they? You should be able to find the pastes in any good local Indian foodstore. Or if like us you might be lucky enough to find in a supermarket?
Jenness Roth
Wondering where to find lamb stock...
Neil
Hi there. Lamb Stock is available in cubes or powder form in all UK major supermarkets. I can't speak for the rest of the world, only the UK where I live.
Eha
Living in Australia and having had two husbands who were absolute curry freaks I naturally adore lamb above all other meats and have become somewhat of a curry cook myself thru' the decades. Do not quite have recipes from all the 23 countries where curry is the national dish but am not far away ๐ ! Of Indian curries I personally prefer those pf the southern provinces, es[specially Kerala and Portuguese Goa, ie with more heat - but your mild recipe would be loved by many of mt friends and I shall faithfully copy for my next tiffin. And mine are made stovetop . . . and traditionally they are best on the third day tho' the cognoscenti prefer to be on the edge and savoir on the fourth . . . . thank you !
Neil
Glad you're a fan of lamb curries Eha. Thanks for your comment and rating!
Ben @ Havocinthekitchen
We rarely eat lamb (Mostly, when eating out), and you know we arenโt huge fans of curry either. But this recipe looks and sounds delicious! In fact, recently we tried some African cuisine, including South African lam curry, and while it was very spicy, it was good too! Not sure if thereโs a big difference between curry recipes, but you might want to check out that one!
Neil
We love African cuisine Ben! When in Kenya, Zanzibar and Uganda I've always sought out the local curries. Especially lamb or goat. I haven't had any from South Africa yet though, maybe we'll visit there one day!
Jeff the Chef
I rarely think to cook lamb, probably because I didn't grow up eating it. But I love lamb! You're slow cooker lamb curry gives me every reason to want to make lamb at home! The weather here is very cold right now, and a really hearty stew like this would be wonderful.
Neil
I don't often cook lamb myself Jeff. Like any red meat here it's a treat now really. So it's a special occassion when we cook it. And like you I love lamb and having it occassionally makes it all the more delicious and appreciated.
Katerina
We're also lamb lovers. Here in Australia, gorgeous lamb is bountiful and mainstream and I agree, it makes a fabulous curry. Thanks for sharing this recipe, Neil. Even though we're in the middle of summer, it makes me want to pull out the slow cooker and whip this up!
Neil
You have superb lamb in Australia Katerina. I know as I've had the privilege to eat it! Both Scotland and Australia are well known for their excellent quality lamb. We're lucky we can use it to make delicious dishes like this. When your summer is over I hope you get a chance to make this! ๐
Laura
I absolutely love lamb dishes and curries are always on my list! I have about the amount of lamb this recipe calls for just waiting in my freezer for a recipe! Definitely making this soon!
Neil
Thanks Laura. Hope you enjoy this lamb curry. It's a brilliant winter recipe. In my humble opinion! ๐
Matt - Total Feasts
I remember reading this in my RSS reader, and thinking I have to eat this now. I love a good curry, but never have I had it with lamb, it sounds great. I'd happily have this for our weekly curry!
Neil
Thanks Matt! I think this curry would soon become one of your favourites! I'm glad you enjoy a weekly curry too, like we do! ๐
