Pesto pizza with cherry tomato and basil salad makes for a delicious change from a normal pizza. It's a quick to make cheats pizza ideal for when you're short on time!

A delicious pesto pizza cooked sitting on a chopping board, ready to carve into slices and eat with cherry tomatoes and basil in the background for decoration.

Hey folks! Today's new recipe is this tasty quick pesto pizza with a cherry tomato and basil salad topping.

Now hold onto something whilst I tell you a little secret about this pizza.

    Are you ready?

Birds eye view of cooked delicious pesto pizza on a chopping board with a slice taken out of it.

It's made with all shop bought ingredients. 😮

    I know. Shock horror!

You've got used to me making all my recipes from scratch haven't you?

Well even I like to take a little time off from experimenting in the kitchen all the time and enjoy just sitting in front of the TV watching my favourite sports!

Amongst my favourite sports that I love to watch is Rugby Union. Particularly The Six Nations Championship. Which is on TV here at the moment.

It's an exciting battle between Scotland, England, France, Ireland, Wales and Italy. All teams trying to win the coveted "Grand Slam".

A slice of pesto pizza on a white plate in frontv of a chopping board with the rest of the pesto pizza on.

So you see this pizza can pretty much be cooked in just 10 minutes.

Which is handy because there's a 10 minute interval between two halves of the game!

Plus it only takes 10 minutes to prep too. Which can be done before the game!

So I'm not apologising in any way for this super quick all shop bought ingredients tasty pesto pizza recipe.

No, I'm too busy watching the matches and hoping that Scotland don't end up with the wooden spoon. Again. 😉

If you really do want to make this pesto pizza from scratch then you'll find a pizza base in my homemade pizza recipe.

Then you can make your own home-made pesto sauce using the method in the tagliatelle with home-made pesto recipe where there's a step by step guide.

I wanted something quick, simple and delicious to make and sit and eat in front of the TV with!

Now you're talking, Neil! I love pizza, and we often do pizza nights while watching sports, too. I've gotta admit that I'm intrigued about the 6 Nations Championship. I might have to see if it's on tv here in the States. And I might have to make this pizza during halftime! You've inspired me! 🙂 (Plus, I always keep pesto in the freezer, so this one would be nice and easy.) Yum!

Scotland are one up so far David. We just managed to defeat Italy on Saturday at the 6 Nations. I'm not sure what will happen in the next match versus Ireland on Saturday.

Still at least there's peltn of Pizza to be had should the game not go the right way. 😉

Neil, there's no shame in making a catered pizza and what a great choice for a Rugby match. As I'm writing this it appears England is going to hand France their bottom on a plate. Me, I'man All Blacks fan myself.
We often buy premade fresh pizza dough (all you do is unroll it) store-bought sauce and toppings. I'll end by saying go Scotland!

France did get a bit of a beating by England didn't they Ron, Wow! And unfortunately Scotland never got past Ireland either. Oh well! At least we've plenty of pizza's to console ourselves with! 🙂

I think I have only ever had pesto ONCE before in my life, but I loved it. I had it on a turkey sandwich and it was amazing. This was back when I was okay to eat everything, ha! Now, not so much. 🙁 That being said, I can only imagine pesto on pizza to be AMAZEEEEEEE! 🙂

Haha, Neil, I know exactly what you mean. Although I am not a big sports fan, I enjoy sneaking away from the kitchen too and watching my dose of soaps. This easy pizza recipe is perfect for those days...easy and delicious.

Thanks Laura. Sometimes when you can't be bothered cooking it's great to put together something simple like this from basic ingredients isn't it?

Unfortunately my team lost in the second round. But the pizza was yummy! 😀

Say what? All ingredients are store bought? Shocking statement! On the other hand, winter is that time of they year, when it's okay to save some energy in the kitchen. Besides, this pizza looks and sounds so delicious, that I'll easily forgive you. But please promise next time you'll make flour with mortar and pestle 😉

I know Ben. Did you have to pick yourself off the floor after reading that all the ingredients for this recipe were shop bought? 😉

So unlike my recipes when everything is usually made from scratch. But I just wanted a change. Change is good isn't it?

But next time, yes I shall ensure that I harvest the flour myself prior to using the mortal and pestle to grind it down. Ha ha!

Great looking pizza. Lots of my favorite flavors on there! Love how it's so easy to make. Trying to get my teenage son into the kitchen to fend for himself every once in a while 🙂 This would be perfect!
