This easy Quorn Chilli Con Carne has so many added benefits.
Not only is it vegetarian but it has a lower fat content than a standard beef chilli.

Nowadays we're huge Quorn fans!
Quorn is great when you're short on time and you need to sort out a quick tasty healthy meal for busy weeknights.
On meat-free Mondays I'll often make this. It only takes 10 minutes to prep and 20 minutes to cook so can be on the table in just 30 minutes!
It’s really convenient as you can whip your Quorn straight out of the freezer and cook it from frozen too.
We always keep a few bags in the freezer as you never know when it's going to come in handy for so many Quorn recipes.

- Quorn Mince (Frozen)
- Low Fat Cooking Oil Spray
- Onion
- Cloves Garlic
- Tinned Red Kidney Beans
- Tinned Chopped Tomatoes

🔪 Step By Step Instructions
Detailed instructions are in the recipe card below. But here is a quick step by step guide of how to make this easy Quorn chilli con carne recipe:
Step 1
- Spray the bottom of a large casserole pot with cooking spray.
Step 2
- Sauté the onion and garlic.
Step 3
- Add the Quorn mince to the onion and garlic, stir well over a low heat.
Step 4
- Add the red kidney beans, chopped tomatoes, stock, all of the spices and all of chocolate. Bring to a boil.
Step 5
- Simmer chilli for at least 15 minutes. Stirring a couple of times throughout. Then serve. See FAQ's for suggestions of what to serve with it.
📖 Substitutions
- Quorn Mince - although this is a vegetarian quorn chilli con carne recipe you could use beef.
- Low Fat Cooking Oil Spray - you could use 1 tablespoon olive oil instead.
- Onion - I use a white onion but you could also use a red onion.
- Dark Chocolate - you could leave this out but it does add a lovely deep rich flavour.

Is Quorn Mince Healthy?
Quorn is meat free, low in saturated fat and high in fibre. Quorn mince can aid weight loss as it is only 92 calories per 100 grams. Whereas beef mince contains 332 calories per 100 grams.
What Is Quorn?
Quorn mince is made from Mycoprotein which is a nutritionally healthy protein source, discovered more than 40 years ago.
Mycoprotein is a type of fungi which is produced by a fermentation process similar to that used for yeast in bread.
Do I Need To Defrost Quorn Mince First?
No, there is no need to defrost the Quorn mince before cooking with it.
How Or What To Serve With This Quorn Chilli Con Carne?
I like to serve my Quorn chilli with rice. If you're looking to make this low carb, you could serve this with a small amount of green vegetables such as broccoli or green beans instead.
You could also serve with some tortilla chips as a snack or dip at parties.
It's also possible to make wraps using quorn chilli as filling. Really the possibilities for this chilli are nearly endless!
How To Store?
Keep your Quorn chilli in the fridge, covered 3 - 4 days. After that it is better to freeze. If you have any Quorn leftovers, and you're not freezing them, then this chilli is perfect reheated the next day and can be served as a filling for baked potatoes with some delicious melted cheddar cheese on top!
Can You Freeze Quorn Chilli?
Yes. Portion it into individual air tight containers and freeze.
How To Reheat?
Defrost thoroughly in your fridge overnight. Reheat it, covered in your microwave 1 minute at a time until it's reached the desired temperature.
Can I make Quorn Chilli In A Slow Cooker?
Yes. Follow the instructions above to step 4. Then transfer to your slow cooker and add all the ingredients. Cook for about 3-4 hours on high or 4-6 hours on low.
How To Vary This Recipe?
Depending on your personal preference for the level of spiciness you may prefer to vary the amount of chilli powder. You could add chopped fresh chilli instead.
It's possible to add extra vegetables in with all the ingredients to give this recipe an extra vitamin boost and make it go further too. Some vegetable suggestions include mushrooms, peas, sweetcorn or even frozen veg.

Ingredients
- 500 g Quorn Mince
- Low Fat Cooking Oil Spray
- 1 Onion, diced ,diced
- 3 Cloves Garlic ,crushed
- 2 400g cans of red kidney beans ,rinsed and drained.
- 2 400g cans of chopped tomatoes.
- 300 ml vegetable stock.
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 teaspoon mild chilli powder
- ½ teaspoon ground cumin
- ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
- ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon.
- 30 g dark chocolate (70% cocoa dark chocolate) broken into small pieces
Instructions
- Spray the bottom of a large casserole pot with cooking spray.
- Sauté the onion and garlic for about 5 minutes. Add splashes of hot water if the mixture begins to stick.
- Add the Quorn mince to the onion and garlic, stir until well combined over a low heat for 2 minutes.
- Add the red kidney beans, chopped tomatoes, stock, all of the spices and all of chocolate. Bring to a boil.
- Allow the chilli to simmer for at least 15 minutes. Stirring a couple of times throughout. Then Serve.
