Strawberry chia overnight oats are a delicious, creamy tasting and healthy breakfast option. This sweet tasting, nutritious breakfast will ensure you have a great start to the day and a filling one too!

    Game, set and match to......?

Well I guess we're just going to have to wait and see who the winners of the ladies and gents Wimbledon Singles finals are this weekend aren't we?

So I thought wouldn't it be brilliant if we could enjoy the traditional Wimbledon strawberries and cream right at the start of the day so we wouldn't have to wait until the match starts?

Also maybe we could enjoy strawberries and cream as a healthier breakfast option without the cream?

So I put together this amazing strawberry chia overnight oats recipe and I guarantee you are not going to be disappointed!

In a fact you may well want to have this INSTEAD of strawberries and cream because it's just so yummy!

Close up of a bowl of strawberry chia overnight oats topped with chopped strawberries and yogurt. Whole strawberries and chopped strawberries in the background as decoration.

It's not just in tribute to Wimbledon that I created this recipe but also the fact that the Scottish soft fruit season is in full flow.

Strawberries are as fresh as I can get them without actually going to the farmers field to pick them myself. Which I would do if I had the time.

In fact when I lived in Dundee I used to pick strawberries and raspberries during the soft fruit season for local farms and get paid for it.

I'd say about half of what I picked went into my basket destined for the shops and the other half went in my mouth!

Anyway it would be a shame to go past this time of year and not have a brand new recipe using theses amazing fresh sweet delights!

A bowl of strawberry chia overnight oats topped with strawberries and yogurt. Spoon to the left side.

In this strawberry chia overnight oats recipe in order to get the creaminess I substituted cream with just 4 tablespoons of 50% reduced fat crème fraiche.

That substitution as well as the addition of chia seeds helps to reduce the overall calorie content but still gives the desired "creamy" affect of actual cream.

Crème fraiche makes for a fantastic lower calorie alternative to fresh cream, provided it's a lower calorie version that you're using.

Recipes like this healthy strawberry overnight oats breakfast just go to prove that you don't need a ton of cream to enjoy a creamy tasting recipe.

Now don't get me wrong, I do love cream, I'm not knocking it in any way, it's just I much prefer to leave my indulgence of cream to my cheesecakes and pudding recipes!

All part of the 80/20 rule for eating.

Anyway Wimbledon. I say bring it on!

Neil - it's been a long while since I watched a Wimbledon match - but, wow, I remember those bowls of strawberries and cream at the end - as a teen my dad would make sure we had strawberries and cream whenever we partook in watching a Wimbledon tennis match on the telly! What a fantastic idea to make this delicious overnight oats recipe based on it!
Btw, safe travels to Inverness and Aberdeen next week - looking forward to following ya on IG - and that final Hawaiian-inspired dish! Hope you and Lady Lynne have a wonderful weekend!

Well Shashi, when I wrote this I was thinking that at least there might be a British man or woman in the finals. Lol! But near eh?

Anyway, at least I'll be able to eat bowls of this strawberry breakfast as a consolation. 😉

Hope you have a great weekend too and I'll catch up with you next week!

Absolutely. I always soak even my porridge that I heat up the next day, overnight with a tablespoon of Chia seeds to give it that extra creamy affect! 🙂

I really wanna do the whole chia seed thing and mix it with coconut milk because I know it expands and gets thicker and I know my mouth would love that texture!

What a fun post, Neil! I watched part of the ladies final this morning, and I can't wait to see the gentlemen's final tomorrow...I must admit that I'm pulling for Federer! Anyways, this recipe is totally perfect for this time of the year. We are loaded with fresh berries in our area, too, and I'm digging the idea of using strawberries with chia as an overnight treat. Perfect for us as the Wimbledon finals are at 9am our time tomorrow. Enjoy the match, my friend! And have fun up in Inverness. Keep an eye out for Nessie up there, ok? 🙂

I only just caught the score the the ladies final after it was on David, but I'm thrilled that Muguruza one. Venus is fabulous but it's always nice to have someone new win in my eyes. Again I'm jealous of you being loaded with fresh berries in your area! One day as I've said before I hope to be growing things in my garden. I've made a start looking into it and will get some assistance from my brother who knows what he's doing. Hope you are enjoying the weekend and I'll catch you later as I prepare for my trip. I'll be sure to look out for Nessie for ya! 😀

        Thanks Agness 🙂

We still have strawberries in season here so I hope to be enjoying them for at least another month yet before they are past their best.

        Hope you enjoy this breakfast.
