Easy chocolate strawberry smoothie is a delicious low-fat low calorie refreshing smoothie. This quick and easy healthy smoothie still tastes wickedly indulgent though!
Chocolate and strawberries are like best friends aren't they folks?
You could even go as far as saying they're a match made in heaven.
As a foodie combination they taste amazing too don't they?
The one drawback is that too much of a good thing can have its consequences. In this case chocolate.
Although chocolate is make with cocoa, a lot of commercial chocolate has additional ingredients that can add fat, sugar and calories to a recipe.
Which is why I have chosen to make my chocolate strawberry smoothie with cocoa powder alone.
Unlike many of the other available versions of this smoothie made with chocolate.
Unlike chocolate, cocoa itself is low in sugar and fat while offering potential health benefits.
I've listed those health benefits and the overall benefits of this healthy chocolate strawberry smoothie below.
This is a much healthier smoothie that you could enjoy for breakfast or as a snack during the day.
It tastes absolutely delicious and it's really refreshing too.
Not only that it's really easy to make. Hence it's title!
So how do you make this chocolate strawberry smoothie?
Simple. It's just 6 ingredients all blended together and in a couple of minutes you've got 2 servings at just 200 calories each!
Of course there's the strawberries. I couldn't not talk about them could I?
I always like to make something special whenever it’s the season of Scottish strawberries. Remember the strawberry whisky cheesecake? 🙂
I've just managed to sneak this chocolate strawberry smoothie recipe in. Using Scottish strawberries before the end of the season!
Scottish strawberries always have had a place in my heart.
Amongst the numerous jobs I've had in my time, (that conversation would need a whole blog post itself to discuss!) I spent many happy school holiday's working in the strawberry fields of The Carse of Gowrie.
My friend Jason and I picked strawberries from morning until night. To earn a little extra pocket money. It was back breaking work. The weather changed from hot to cold to rain - frequently!
However, all in all we loved it!
We had a small transistor radio and listened to Radio 1 all day. One of the songs I remember most being played was Hollywood Beyond and What's the Color of Money? So whenever I hear that song now it reminds me of those times.
Of course you don't need to use Scottish strawberries to make this. Naturally though with having such an abundance right here on my own doorstep I'm biased! 😉

You guys are off to climb Kilimanjaro!? Holy cow, Neil. That's awesome! I think I remember you hinting at that before, but now it's here. I can't wait to hear about your adventures. In the meantime, this chocolate strawberry smoothie is a great way to enjoy the last of those summer berries. I'm not much of a chocolate-in-the-morning kinda guy, but I'm thinking this could be a great lunch or afternoon snack. Sounds delicious! Stay safe on your climb, my friend!
Neil
Thanks David. Lynne and I are really excited and looking forward to our trip. There's still a bit of packing and a few things to sort before we go but it's not long now.
I'll just have to enjoy another batch of this smoothie to use up the last of those berries until it's time to go!

Good-luck on your climb Neil, hopefully we'll get to see a few pictures of you reaching the peak. What an experience that will be!
Oh, and thanks for this strawberry + chocolate smoothie recipe, it looks delicious.
Neil
Hi Tyler, thanks! Yes hopefully I will have some pictures and wtite a few posts on my return. As long as the camera battery lasts! ๐

OH WOW that is great that you and Lynne are off to climb Mount Kilamanjaro, what a fantastic holiday and adventure. I cannot wait to see all the pictures and posts on your amazing holiday.
Now this smoothie is what I want to be sipping on while reading about the great climb.
Have a great holiday and stay safe ๐
Neil
Thanks Ashika. Sorry I missed your comment before we left for our climb. We're all back safe and sound now. Plenty of climbing pictures to come!
Ron
Love smoothies, but never made a chocolate one. This will be my Saturday next treat. We'll be looking forward to stories from your journey. Do so enjoy your holiday and trek safely.
Neil
Thanks Ron! Hope you enjoyed the smoothie and looking forward to catching up on your blog when we return.

First of all, what a gorgeous color your smoothie is! Really nice. Very interesting, though, that the only sweet thing in it is the banana. I know strawberries can be sweet, but where I live, the grocery store strawberries aren't sweet. I'd be very interested to taste cocoa in this not-very-sweet context. I'll bet it's delicious. I'm not really a smoothie guy, but I think I'm going to have to try this anyway.
Neil
Many thanks Jeff. Hope you get a chance to make this and I'll catch up on what you've been making when we return from our holidays!

One of my daughters fav desserts are strawberries dipped in chocolate - in fact, when we are trying to take a break from ice cream, the combo of chocolate and strawberries is one of my favs too - however, this smoothie with cocoa instead of chocolate would be a way more healthful option! Thanks so much for this Neil!
BTW - picking strawberries is indeed back braking work - I've only picked strawberries for fun with my daughter - and that was only for a couple of hours - I couldn't imagine doing that for the whole day, most days of the week!
Neil
Strawberries dipped in chocolate are delicious Shashi! Yum. I may have that for dessert tonight now that you've put that idea in my head. Ha ha!
Yes it was back breaking work picking all those strawberries. But we did have the incentive of being able to buy records (remember those ๐ ) with the money we earned. ๐
Andy Bishop
I've never made chocolate strawberry smoothies before but I'll try your recipe. It looks really good! THanks for sharing!
Neil
No problems Andy. Hope you enjoy it!
