Substitutions
- Porridge Oats - use rolled oats or basic porridge oats. Other types of oats may mean your banana oatmeal will take longer to cook.
- Skimmed Milk - I use skimmed milk for a healthier option. You can use whole milk but it will change the nutritional values.
- Fat Free Greek Yogurt - plain fat free yogurt is fine.
- Banana - use ripe bananas. Unripe bananas or green bananas are not recommended.
- Honey - honey is best for a natural sweetness or use maple syrup.
- Ground Cinnamon (optional garnish)

FAQ's
Can You Store Banana Porridge In The Fridge?
Yes. Place your leftover porridge in a bowl and cover with an air tight seal or store in an airtight container. Store in fridge overnight for maximum 1 day. Although the porridge may discolour slightly overnight it's still fine to eat and can be reheated on your stove or in your microwave. You may need to sweeten it up again with some more honey and top with some cinnamon for extra flavour.
Can You Make Porridge In The Microwave?
Yes. Place all ingredients in a microwave suitable bowl. Cook for 3 minutes in the microwave. Stir at each minute.
How To Make Banana Porridge Vegan?
Make this into vegan porridge by using plant-based milk like almond milk, coconut milk or oat milk and use maple syrup instead of the honey.

It's almost oatmeal season! As soon as the mornings turn a bit chilly, I switch from cereal to oatmeal for breakfast. This one sounds easy and delicious...perfect for busy mornings after I drop Robbie off at school! This recipe makes me want to put on a hoodie and curl up on the couch with a bowl of porridge. Yum!!
Neil
I have porridge just about every morning of the year David so from time to time I need to change it up. This is just one of the many different oatmeal variations I have. Hope you get a chance to make it and enjoy it!

Thanks Michelle. I like mine with honey as it means it's healthier than using sugar. You can also use maple syrup too.
