Quick healthy salmon burgers are the perfect easy dinner option. It takes just 40 minutes to prepare and cook these delicious heart healthy homemade patties.

These quick healthy salmon burgers came about when I managed to pick up a couple of salmon fillets in the reduced section of our local supermarket.
I often find myself "hanging around" the reduced aisle regularly, checking for any such bargains.
It's a habit that many of my close friends know well.
I'm always amazed that prices are slashed by more than half on some items which have just reached the day or day before they have to be sold by.
These are the kinds of bargains I eagerly look for. If I can't use them immediately, they go straight into the freezer for future use.
On this particular occasion, the salmon fillets were perfect for making quick, healthy salmon burgers.
This was a recipe I'd been contemplating for some time.
To complete the meal, I added garlic mayonnaise, a light side salad, and baked sweet potato fries. The combination was simply amazing!
I debated waiting until January to post this recipe, but I thought I would get away with it at the end of November, just before all the festive recipes flood in.
It's great to enjoy ourselves at Christmas and perhaps indulge a little more than usual.
However for me it's still important to keep the the 80/20 rule for eating in mind.
During the holidays, there's sure to be plenty of turkey and other delicious foods to enjoy.
In my case, I'm especially looking forward to some new cheesecakes!
But if there comes a time over the next month, or anytime if you're reading this at a different time of year, where you fancy a change from all those festive treats, these salmon burgers could be just what you're looking for.
It's also worthwhile to remember that it's recommended to include at least two portions of fish a week in your diet.
This should include one portion of oily fish to ensure you get enough omega-3 to keep your heart healthy.

🥘 Ingredients
- Salmon - I use skinless, boneless salmon fillets.
- Clove Garlic - I recommend only using a fresh garlic clove here which is best for flavour rather than garlic granules.
- Small Onion - I use a brown onion. You could use use shallots instead.
- Red Onion - Great for adding a more sharp flavour.
- Egg - Use a free-range egg.
- Breadcrumbs - You could use shop bought if you want. I have a bag of breadcrumbs that I keep in my freezer, made from wholemeal bread processed in a food processor.
- Limes - You could use lime juice from a bottle if you want but fresh is best.
- Coriander - Freshly chopped.
- Vegetable Oil - Used to lightly fry the salmon burger patties. You could use olive oil instead.

🔪 Step By Step Instructions
Instructions are in the recipe card below. But here is a quick step by step guide of how to make these salmon burgers:
- Place all of the ingredients, except the vegetable oil, into a food processor and pulse blend until ground, but not pureed. You still need to have some texture for the mixture to bind together. Season with a little freshly ground salt and pepper.
- Gently heat the vegetable oil in a small frying pan.
- Use your hands to form 4 patties from the salmon mixture (which will be quite wet). Place 2 patties side by side in the pan and cook for 3 - 4 minutes on each side. Repeat with the other two patties.
- Serve on burger buns with iceberg lettuce, slices of tomatoes or cucumbers if you like and garlic mayonnaise.

I didn't see your previous post, so I enjoyed reading more about the 80/20 concept. That's totally makes sence. Personally, my lunches and dinners during the week are very simple and most likely, the same. Indeed, I've read somewhere that if you eat same (simple, "boring") meals during the week, your brain will likely be more cooperative and will not produce false signals saying the body is hungry. Heh, I think this works. I dont mind eating one dish for a few days in a row. Besides, I don't want spend my time cooking after work. But the most importantly, it gives me a legitimate right to cook something special and not necessarily healthy on weekends (And also indulge with ice cream during the week). And these burgers are so delightful! I'll take the pattie leaving out the bun and, thus, saving room for ice cream ๐

My breakfasts and lunches are always porridge and soups Ben. So like your simple, same lunches and dinners, mine are that too!
But yes, let's make sure the weekends are different and we're cooking up a storm with something indulgent. Personally that for us is a home made cheesecake. Got a new one coming up next Thursday. Its yum!
David @ Spiced
I love a good salmon burger! And I agree with you about the discount aisle at the store, Neil. I always swing by that section just to see if there are any good deals. As long as you either cook it up right away or put it in the freezer, then you've scored some solid savings! Aladdin in London sounds like an amazing experience, and I hope you and Lynne have a wonderful time. Take a pic or two to share with us, ok? In the meantime, I'll be waiting for my slice of cheesecake next Thursday...haha! ๐
neil@neilshealthymeals.com
Just packing my rucksack now David and thoroughly looking forward to our weekend away in London.
Lynne's down there for work and she's just texted to say she's got an upgrade to a really posh room. How lucky are we? I'll try to take some photographs and post them with the Cheesecake recipe. If I can remember to take photographs! ๐
Megan @ Skinny Fitalicious
I love a good salmon burger. Have not made my own yet. That needs to change! Have fun in London!

Hey Megan ๐ how's it going? Great to hear from you and glad you like my Quick healthy Salmon Burgers!
Can't wait for London, just getting ready for it now. Looking forward to it and to some great food too.
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
I love salmon burgers! They're always been a staple in the freezer ๐
neil@neilshealthymeals.com
Absolutely. I made several batches of these when I was trialling them Rebecca so they kept well in the freezer. They're all done now though so I guess it'll soon be time to make a new batch! ๐ Oh what a chore........ ๐
Jeff
I haven't had salmon like this in forever. The garlic mayo sounds good.
neil@neilshealthymeals.com
Thanks Jeff. Salmon can be a bit expensive sometimes so when I can get it reasonably priced it's a bonus! I just felt (and Lynne also agreed) that the garlic mayo was the perfect compliment to this burger. ๐
